DS Aitken Pavillion Upgrade

Dear Craigieburn Cricket, Football and Superules members

We are delighted to advise that the DS Aitken Pavilion is now scheduled for a major upgrade and renovation within the next 12 months.

Over the past 10 years we have been working with and lobbying Council for this critical upgrade. It is important to note that Council plans projects many years in advance and so unfortunately these things do take time to come to fruition.

A working group from all three Clubs have just begun discussions with Council on the pavilion design. It is too early to advise what the upgraded  pavilion might look like inside or outside however the feedback from Council is that the internal & the external building will look very modern.

Our goal is to hold a meeting in approximately 3 months  so that we can present a pavilion design to members. Within this same meeting, we expect to be able to advise a timeline for the construction of the pavilion.  A date for this meeting will be advised at a later time.

This is an exciting time for all of us who use the facilities at DS Aitken Reserve. The new picket fence looks magnificent, we are now getting a major upgrade to the pavilion plus, there are also plans being developed to upgrade the reserve outside of the oval.

On behalf of the Craigieburn Cricket, Football and Superules working group that consists of Gerard Laffan, Brian Hall, Scott Taylor, David Woodgate and myself, we would like to thank Council for these critical projects for our community.

We would also like members to note that Council has gone into bat for us by requesting the Federal Government get behind the DS Aitken Pavilion development by injecting additional funds into the project.  We need your support by signing your name to an online petition that can be accessed via this link

http://www.hume.vic.gov.au/About_Us_Contact_Details/Your_Council/Hume_Advocates/2016_Federal_Election_Campaign/DS_Aitken_Reserve_Pavilion_redevelopment

This upgrade must be built to ensure that the new upgraded pavilion remains relevant to our diverse and growing  community for the next 30+ years.  We need you to sign this on line petition to help us to get the extra funding from the Federal Government so that we get a pavilion that all of Craigieburn will be proud of – will you help? Please encourage your friends, families and neighbours to also sign this on line petition.

If you have any questions for the Craigieburn Cricket, Football and Superules working group, please feel free to send an email to dsaitkenpavillionupgrade@gmail.com
